The community response to the exhibition has been overwhelmingly positive, with visitors impressed by the quality and diversity of the artwork on display.

One standout piece in the exhibition is an oil painting work entitled "Self Portrait" by Bloomington High School South student, Anna Asplund. The piece features a black and white painting of the artist looking through the canvas at the viewer. A community member who came by the show in College Mall commented on the Anna Asplund Self Portrait, that "You can see the character behind the painting."

Another standout work from Bloomington South is the oil painting by Lilah Streiff. This painting depicted a girl in green with sunlight shining on her face and top.  President of the Bloomington Watercolor Society, Carol Rhode, commented that "She has done such a good job with the light." Rhode compared Streiff's work to the Self Portrait, stating that "This one is more challenging. It's reflective in a way, while the Self Portrait is more open." This comment underscores the technical skill and artistic vision required to create a successful work of art, and the range of styles and techniques on display in the exhibition.

Alison Kingsley, artist and educator at Edgewood.

The artwork from Edgewood was selected from Ms. Emily Medsker's advanced 2D art class as well as her painting class. The artwork is from a variety of project assignments.

Alison Kingsley, artist and educator at Edgewood commented, “Our students were so excited to have the opportunity to display their artwork outside of the school building, this was a great experience for them. It was also a wonderful opportunity for them to see artwork from Bloomington South and see what other artists their ages are creating.”

Henry Leck, President of the Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington, praised the quality and the variety of work, pointing out the incredible jewelry, stain glass, sculpture, portrait drawing, and all sorts of 2D art.

The students and faculty of Bloomington South and Edgewood High Schools should be very proud. The Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington has been delighted to feature the great work of these young artists.”

The high school show is a true testament to the Arts Alliance's slogan: Connecting artists with each other and the community. By providing a platform for young artists to showcase their talents, the Arts Alliance is fostering connections between artists and the wider community, inspiring children and adults alike to engage with and appreciate the power of the arts.
